The Cavaliers for the peace

 

Based on the same idea than the multiethnic main program that we organized in the middle of the conflict of 1993, the moment came for Europe to prepare the children of the Balkans to the peace. We can’t wait anymore !

Today, in 2001,the geopolitical context is favourable :In SERBIA, MILOSEVICH doesn’t manage anymore and the KOSOVO is stabilized by the UN peacekeeping forces.

 

GOAL : To engage the European Parliament to reproduce this action on a European scale to educate the children of the Balkans to the fraternity.

WAY : Diffusion of the European petition for signatures.

The 1^st Multiethnic Cultural program

In Europe for the children of the Balkans.

 

A group of children : Bosnians, Catalans, Croats and Serbs

 in Perpignan during the Mediterranean Games

From the 12 to the 27 of June 1993, for the Mediterranean games and the fire for the St John, on the theme of the fraternity, of the peace and sport.

When they arrived in the train station of Perpignan, the group of 15 children, accompanied by to teacher was welcome by the parent’s French students and teacher of the secondary school “Jean Moulin” (public), “Saint Louis de Gonzague” (private), the Association “Two hand for tomorrow and the local journalists.

During every outing, each invited is accompanied by a French student who sponsor him, so, a group of forty people, with the two secondary schools taking care, the two teacher from Zagreb, the two interpreters from Montpellier and one member of the Association Two hands for tomorrow, creator of the program.

 

 

Chronology:

 

12 of June, welcome from the French families with an animation: fanfare and choral.

13 Integration of the guests in the two classes that they were divided up.

14 Reception by the city hall

 

15 Day in Caudies, activities: equestrian centre (U.D.S.I.S.T) and the leisure activities centre “Castel Fizel” for an initiation to horse riding and climbing.

16Reception in the board of directors on the project, on the afternoon visit of the firm “LOR” and an invitation to see a tournament of the Mediterranean Games (93).

17Afternoon of dialogue with specialized animators: the occasion for the children to speak about what they lived, their difficulties, their hopes.

18Day in the beach of Canet, on the morning, a strip on the ocean (captain Hubert) and visit of an aquarium; on the afternoon; invitation to the Mediterranean Games (water-polo) and visit of the museum of the boat and the one of the toys.

19/20 A firm of taxies is driving to the Mount of “Canigou” for a two days bivouac, with three policemen with jeep/radio for the “Trobada” party, the beginning part of the Fire for St-John.

21Afternoon: music animation and songs “no frontiers”.

22Visit of the “Door of the Castillet”, vestiges of the olds ramparts of the city. On the evening, coming back to the stadium to see an encounter of the Mediterranean Games.

23Day to Prades, the morning, visit of the cave of Canalettes, visit of a farm with the discovering of the animals, on the afternoon a soccer tournament with the local team, meals and a snacks offered by the municipality. On the evening, the group has participated to the parade, behind the holders of the “fire” who were going down from the Canigou”.

24Day in Tautavel, visit of the valley and the cave of “la Caune de l’Arago”, where was discovered the first “Man of Tautavel” one Homo Erectus living more than 450 hundred years ago, the common ancestor all the Europeans people and visit of the museum about this subject.

25Visit of the chocolate factory “Cantalou” (CEMOI).

The afternoon, to the stadium for the jumping’s events of the Mediterranean games.

26We spend the day swimming in the ocean.

27Departure of the children, back to Croatia with the card symbolizing the “flame of the Canigou” which is a message for peace and fraternity.

The program was taken in charge by the respective insurance of the secondary schools and   more than 250 partners worked together for this realisation, firms, local communities of the department, U.N.I.S.S.E.F and private donors who gave to the association. To all of them, thanks a lot, and more to the family who put the children up, victims of the ethnic war. The more important day of this multiethnic cultural program is the one that made the children discover the “man of Tautavel”, which is more than the palaeontology discovering: this is the demonstration of the nonsense of the ethnic wars. The knowledge of the human origins and the education of our children to the tolerance have to be the foundation of all the educative projects on every continent if we want to start the real human progress.
